I have been away for a while so first, Happy New Year! On to the 72nd annual Golden Globes Awards in Good Old Hollywood Sunday night, and no I’m not here to discuss who won what but to talk about, yes, you guessed right men’s style.
So as we know it is Awards Season and I have to say men’s fashion is heating up and I can definitely say they are beating the women on the red carpet. Yes, I said it.
One thing I noticed on the Golden Globe Red Carpet is that the men actually took risks with their choices. Yes there was the obvious black, but there were colours like midnight blue, grey, green and purple, which was refreshing. They all went for the classic suit, except British actor Eddie Redmayne who opted for a mix and match velvet, single breasted dinner jacket with black trousers which is perfect as the mix and match suit trend is going to be big for SS15.
As for accessories I love the undying presence of the classic bow ties and there was the odd classic tie. Looking at footwear I noticed the Chelsea boots are back in full swing and spotted a few worn with suits. This is one trend to be careful with, not every man can actually carry off a pair of Chelsea boots with a suit so before you jump into the deep end think twice.
The only Gentleman I am not happy about is David Oyelowo. I’m not sure what he was going for and I actually loved the suit as the glitter trend was big on the catwalk at last season’s collections for men, but those shoes are just a big NO.
And yes Nigerian gentlemen celebrities, please take note, all the men’s shoes where polished and clean – that is how you rock shoes on the red carpet.
And then the grooming. Most of the men went for the clean-shaven look but my faves were the beard and slicked back hair look and Kit Harrington (John Snow from the Game Of Thrones) definitely got my morning going…
Here are the rest of my picks for best dressed men on the red carpet at the Golden Globes 2015 –
