Considering the presence of a Chanel-branded spacecraft on the invite for the show, guests arrived at the Grand Palais for the presentation of Chanel’s Fall 2017 collection expecting some sort of outer-space theme.
Though subtle, the collection was obviously space-suit inspired, which could be seen more in the color and structure of the pieces than the style. Generally, the collection had nothing fantastic, just the classic Chanel. While some necklines were reminiscent of space suits (pre-helmet), Chanel Fall 2017 features a lot of white and metallic silver.
Although, the collection gives off ’60s vibes, some looks seem more like the return of certain aspects of ’60s fashion in fashion’s favorite decade, the ‘80s. This is mostly obvious from the shift dresses, Jackie ‘Oish’ suiting, footwears and bold beauty look. I see Melania Trump rocking a look or two off this collection.
I wish Karl Largerfield would pay as much attention to the clothes as he does to the actual show. Attendees say models walked through clouds of smoke to rapturous applause toAs Elton John’s “Rocket Man” at the finale! Who knows, for the next Chanel show, he (Karl Largerfield) just might fly guests to the moon and stage a runway show there!
