In recent years, more women have embraced the idea of wearing their kinky, coily or curly natural hair. Many have gone ahead to become natural hair brides. This has led to an increase in demand of stylists.
Before you ask, yes, not every hair stylist can style natural hair. Just in case you have plans of being a natural hair bride, or you need to sear your natural hair for an event, here is a list of hair stylists you should try.
If pictures on their Instagram pages are anything to go by, then be rest assured that they will not disappoint you!
TasalaHQ Salon is based in Ikoyi. They styled Toolz and April by Kunbi’s Creative Director, Kunbi Tomori’s hair for their weddings.
KL’s Naturals led by Kemi Lewis are King of the up-dos, rolls and tucks! They have branches in Dolphin Estate and Lekki.
O’Naturals have a growing celebrity clientele. If you see a Nollywood actress rocking a pretty natural hair style, chances are that it was done by O’Naturals. They are based in Ojota.
Abuja-based Solange Hair and Beauty Shop have carved a niche for themselves in the beauty business as they offer the complete package of makeup and hair styling.
Tobbies Touch is based in Lagos. A look through his Instagram page will make you understand why he is the self-acclaimed Hair Deity!
Alongside selling hair extensions, Beesroot also styles brides’ hair.
I like to believe that we have #SVArmy outside of Lagos. Esther of Game Of Fros would have been the perfect proof of this, as she was once based in Calabar. She has since moved to Lagos where she has continued to bring her A-game to styling natural hair – faux locs, crochet braids and all.
It looks like the men are not leaving beauty in general and hair styling in particular to the ladies and I am so here for it! Bernard (who is also a dancer) is good at what he does, and he probably knows it!
Head stylist, Abdulazeez (yup, another guy!) has a way of styling hair that gives it a character of its own.
Also Lagos-based, their bun game is dope!
Permit me to add that some of the aforementioned hair stylists also style synthetic hair. That said, I would like to know more natural hair stylists. Extra cool points for those based outside Lagos and Abuja. I’m particularly looking forward to knowing those in Benin City.
Let me know in the comments.
