The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, AMVCAs in honor of the best African movies from 2016 has finally come to an end. This year, ball dresses and natural hair styles were a thing.
From up-dos to low buns, a number of stars showed up rocking natural hair styles in a way that would make you want to join the natural hair gang too!
Beginning from the most favorite, see our faves from the event.
Kemi Lewis outdid herself on this one! I totally loved this hair style on Sika. I only wish the back had been shorter, but hey! That’s probably the idea.
The actress who won this year’s Trailblazer award at the AMVCAs wore her hair in a centre part low ponytail. I love the effect of the kinky extensions that were added, Diana Ross vibes right there. Kudos to Omozo’s O’ Naturals!
I am a sucker for low buns, even though I have never gotten around to rocking one, so landing the top of this list was a no-brainer. The only part I didn’t like was the excessive effort to lay the edges, baby hair style. All the same, I think Bernard smiles did a good job on this one.
I looove Tina Mba’s faux top bun. Definitely inspiration for aspiring natural hair brides. Another favorite from O’ Naturals.
Beverly’s natural hair has my heart, but this low bun by Yellow Sisi makes this list for the same reason Adesua’s did.
Uche Jombo’s rolls and tucks are everything! I am of the opinion that O’ Naturals should trademark it sef. The Uche Jombo hair sounds good, doesn’t it?
Ufuoma’s hair looked very similar to Uche Jumbo’s, although hers was styled by Yellow Sisi. Now we know what wives on strike do.
Jemima is one stunning lady! It was great to see her rock this natural hair style by @Akinshair to the AMVCAs.
Titi Sonuga’s pompadour-like natural hair style was by Vavavoom. I particularly love that Titi does whatever she likes with her hair. One minute she’s rocking a tapered TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro), the next she’s rocking gorgeous braids!
Chioma also rocked her natural hair in a pompadour-inspired style like Titi. Hers was however pulled into a faux mohawk which was styled by O’ Naturals.
Last year’s Trailblazer showed up at this year’s AMVCAs rocking her hair in a low bun styled by Vavavoom. I love that the stylist did not try to force baby hairs. The only reason this natural hair style does not make it to the top of my list is, I wish the bun was sleeker. But I know how natural hair can be, the thing has a mind of its own.
Generally, I love that more women are embracing the natural hair option. Natural hair styles were a hit at this year’s AMVCAs, looking forward to the next!
