First Black Editor-in-Chief at British Vogue, Ghanaian-Born Edward Enninful, Announces His Exit as British Vogue Editor-in-Chief

Ghanaian-born Edward Enninful, the trailblazing editor-in-chief of British Vogue, has announced that his final issue in this role will be in March 2024, as confirmed on his official Instagram page.

However, Enninful's journey with British Vogue doesn't end there. He will continue to be associated with Condé Nast, taking on a newly-appointed position as Editorial Advisor of British Vogue and Global Creative and Cultural Advisor of Vogue.

The news of this transition was first shared with his staff in June 2023. The new roles not only allow Enninful to lend his expertise to the success of the Vogue brand on a global scale but also give him the freedom to explore broader creative projects outside of the legacy fashion empire.

Enninful expressed his excitement in a statement to Vogue Business, saying, "I am thrilled to share that starting next year, I will be stepping into the newly created role of editorial advisor for British Vogue and global creative and cultural advisor for Vogue. In this capacity, I will continue to contribute to the creative and cultural achievements of the Vogue brand worldwide, while also taking on exciting new creative challenges."

Since taking the helm in 2017, after succeeding Alexandra Shulman, Edward Enninful's tenure as editor-in-chief of British Vogue has been nothing short of historic. As the first black male to lead a major fashion magazine, his appointment broke barriers and marked a significant step forward for diversity and representation within the fashion industry.

In a recent Instagram post, Enninful shared a collection of celebrity covers from his time at British Vogue and engaged with his followers by asking which one was their favorite. He also expressed his optimism about what the next seven months will bring, hinting at more remarkable content to come.
