11 Reasons Avocado Should Be Your Bestie

Avocado is highly underrated. Apart from being one of the tastiest foods around, it is also very versatile. In fact, I like to refer to it as a sibling to shea butter and coconut oil because they can be used for almost everything.

Here’s what I mean by everything.

  1. Avocado is Tasty

Be it as guacomole, used to eat bread, suya, rice, garri or even as filling for shawarma, avocado tastes great!

2. Avocado is High In Good Fat

Avocado contains monounsaturated fats which can reduce potentially harmful cholesterol and fight heart disease.

3. It Contains Loads Of Vitamins

It is a good source of Vitamins B5, B6, C, E and K!

4. It Contains Abundant Antioxidants

Antioxidants are believed to protect cells from damage caused by free radicals and avocados contain a generous amount.

5. It Is Proteinous

Avocado actually contains protein. The amount of protein depends on the size of the fruit, but about 100 grams of avocado contains 2 grams of protein.

6. It Is A Great Addition To Your Beauty Routine

From hydrating, to moisturizing, then nourishing the skin, avocado’s uses are almost endless. They also serve as natural sun screen, hand scrub, facial mask, etc.

 7. Healthier Alternative To Butter

Avocado can be a healthier alternative to butter and regular baking ingredients.

8. It Is Great For Hair

Avocados prevent hair loss and promote hair growth. They can also improve your hair’s condition by acting as a moisturizer for dry or damaged hair.

9. It Is Good For Pregnant Women

Avocado is loaded with folic acid,  which is essential for growing babies. It is very important for forming baby’s nervous system, as well as the brain.

10. It Is Loaded With Fiber

Avocados contain a relatively large amount of fiber, an indigestible plant matter that is strongly linked to a lower risk of many diseases, can contribute to weight loss and reduce blood sugar spikes.

11. It Is Potassium-Rich

Avocados are very high in potassium (an important mineral that most people don’t get enough of), which supports healthy blood pressure levels.
